Belo Monte Dam occupation final day

PRESS [ENG - ITA] Belo Monte ( Brazil ) OpAmazonaSave http://pastebin.com/XESuFCxQ

Norte Energia is building a big dam on an indigenous area near the Xingu river in Brazil.
How you can read on the paper for the rights of indigenous people (made by UN), the ancient council need to be consulted about every project that, other people, want to start.
Despite these assumptions, the construction of this big dam by Norte Energia was started without a consultation with the indigenous, in fact the negotiations happened since 2009 weren't observed.
The dam will be the cause of an innondation of 500 mq of rainforest, altering irriversibly the climate.

32000 indigenous will be removed from their lands. Against this, which could be called a ethnic cleansing, the indigenous belonging to this region of Xingu, have occupied, untill few days ago, the yard of the dam. After confused negotiations and exploiting the difficulties of translation, Norte Energia have offered televisions, video cameras, computers and boats as a price for the ending of the occupation.
We stress that the person, who had to translate, into the indigenous language, these negotiations, was  a member of Norte Energia and, 'cause of this, biased. Also Norte Energia contacted separately every tribe with the aim to decrease the unity of indigenous people and to impair the negotiations. Bad was also the behavior of FUNAI and IBAMA, organizations which have to protect the rights of indios, in fact there weren't members of these associations during the negotiations. Perceiving of the cheat the indigenous people have retained 3 members of the factories which wanted the hydroelectric project on of their community: the members were sent into the indigenous areas receiving a really humane treatment with the freedom of moving inside the Muritu's village.
This rapture was a consequence of the ethnic cleaning and, 'cause of this, is to be noted as a damage of the right to live of indigenous people: this is considered as a demo and pacific act (#Declaration OpGreenRights (n) Right to dissent ) http://pastebin.com/tLT5wVcb ), which includes self-defense. During 27th of July (2012) there was an another reunion between indigenous people and Norte Energia, with the presence of FUNAI, IBAMA and the presence of members of the Presidency of Government, to define the rules of navigation of the Xingu river and the start of the project for the enviroment's protection prepared by Norte Energia, which also now remains incomplete. The indigenous demand to hold their seculary award freedom of moving with boats along the river and that a new reservoir have to be interested by a plane of operation about the enviroment's protection, to avoid natural disasters. The next week other reunions will be held near the indigenous communities, but also the existence of the river's part where they live is in danger.

Norte Energia your behaviour is a mirror of the baddest colonialist acts of past centuries.
Like the Conquistadores you want to destroy the indigenous cultures in exchange for some mirrors and with the cheat of treatments intentionally poorly translated. The respect toward humans, their culture and ecosystem has a really higher price then a dam. So OperationGreenRights shows his closeness to the people of Xingu river in the fight for the preservation of their rights.
Norte Energia the worthlessness of your aims and the cowardice of your means can't escape by the Anonymous' eye and because the UN isn't incriminating you, we, Anonymous, are doing it.
Norte Energia is the time to reply to this charge:
Crimes against the humanity: ethnic cleansing.

We are anonymous.
We are legion.

ENG VERSION
Press OpAmaZonaSave 3.0

We want to express our condemnation for the Norte Energia's project of Belo Monte's dam.
Amazonian ecosystem is foundamental for the whole planet, the dam will damage it irreversibly.
Also the Kayapo's native community is damaged by your project:

  •     The dam site is polluting the waters of the Xingu River. This is obviously the more serious because the Kayapo drink water from the river wich is also used for fishing.

  •     The charter of the 'UN Rights of Indigenous Peoples states that their authority should be consulted on implementation of any project affecting their territory. The Kayapo have not been consulted by Norte Energia. So the Kayapo people's rights have been violated. It 'a Kayapo's right to refuse the dam.

  •     Many of the 24,000 people in the area are going away. The construction of the dam will cause the flooding of their homes.

  •     Even the Ixil, in Guatemala are in danger for Enel Green Power's dam project. Hydroaysen is another dam project. No one spokes with Ixil about dam's project.

  •     Hydroaysen is an other dam's project in Chile, it would destroy the ecosystem of Patagonia.

  • In Mexico, First Majestic Silver Corp has obtained licenses to dig in the sacred area of the Huichol people. The whole area would be disfigured and the natives would be expelled.

All this facts shows that large corporations are actually carrying out a systematic destruction of nature and a real ethnic cleansing against native communities all over South America.

Operation Green Rights and Anonymous do not accept that ancient and peacefull cultures be sacrificed in the name obtuse greed.
ENEL, ENDESA, NORTE ENERGIA, your hydropower is unclean,it's contaminated by pain and suffering of the world's ancient and peaceful civilizations. It 's time to choose for renewable and low environmental impact energy sources .

Citizens of the world the time has come to fight against the neo-colonialism of the large mining and energy companies.

MESSAGE FOR Brazilian Government

The destruction of nature and ancient cultures is intolerable.
Brazilian Government, Norte Energia : the 18th article of ONU's declaretion of indigenous people's rights imposes you to consult the KAYAPO people community about your Xingu river mega-dam project, but you've never done it.So it's a KAYAPOS's right to refuse your dam. Anonymous, Iberoamerica and Operation Green Rights stand united with the Kayapo people against your disastrous project. Your project will cause irrepairable damage to the environment and the life that inhabits it, including the indigenous peoples. The Amazon is our planet's carbon filter, destroying it would only increase our current climate problems, something that no amount of money can fix. Our protest will persist until you put an end to this dam's construction and we will continue to fight against anyone who persecute South America's ethnic groups. The  government of Brazil is responsible for the Belo Monte dam project on Xingu River. If the dam will be build Kayapo people's lands will be flood and the river will be irreversibly damaged. The entire amazonian ecosystem would be upset with irreparable consequences all over the world.
In Amazonia, Guatemala, Patagonia mega-dams threaten the existence of ancient and peaceful people.
Anonymous, Operation Green Rights and Iberoamerica fight against this ethnic cleansing pursued in the name of the filthy and evil profit.

The Belo Monte hydroelectric project plans to build the third world's largest dam in the middle of the Amazon, Brazil. With an output of more than 11,000 Megawatts, flooding 500 square kilometers of jungle, moving from home to over 16,000 indígenas. The flow reduction of Xingu and its tributaries will directly affect the native population that lives and uses this water to survive, in addition to the irreparable damage to the flora and fauna of the river and the flooded area. Along with the indigenous population that will be affected directly, is a tribe that lives in complete isolation, so the mere contact with outsiders will expose them to unknown and potentially deadly disease to them.
The impact increases, because they will employ more than 20,000 workers in the construction of this dam, this alters the daily lives and safety of the natives, as a mini-city will be installed in its territory, bringing erosion, garbage, disease and crime.

A delegation of Indians entered the Presidential Palace to deliver a petition signed by half a million people, which calls the new president of Brazil Dilma Roussef to halt the "disastrous" dam.
The Indians also delivered a letter signed by more than 78 civil society organizations that warns of the enormous risks involved in the dam project and calls for halt.
Link to download the letter submitted by the Indians: assets.survivalinternational.org/documents/552/carta-dilma-versao-final-08fev11.pdf (in Portuguese)

If built, the Belo Monte Dam would cause widespread devastation to the forest from which the natives depend for survival. The Indians have organized large demonstrations against the dam and warned that if construction begins, the Xingu could become a "river of blood."
Last month, Brazil's environmental agency, IBAMA, issued a building permit partial of the dam, which allows, among other things, clearing vast areas of forest, despite the numerous violations of human and environmental rights, and this entails of the overwhelming opposition of local people. Even though the building consortium, North Energy, does not meet many of the social and environmental conditions required for granting the license.
Felicio Pontes Jr. The prosecutor said: "After decisions like this, we can describe the IBAMA as the biggest violator of the Amazon environment."

A recent report by the NGO International Rivers and Friends of the Earth-Brazilian Amazon warns that the Belo Monte project involves significant social risks, environmental, legal and financial.

Western intrusion brings a sociological and anthropological problem of proportions for the native peoples.
The technology and methods of remediation do not match with the second decade of the eleventh century's tecnologhy. It is a story that runs in South America, as was the Hidroaysén project in Patagonia, lower costs and rely on minimal oversight by the state, these hydroelectric projects make a threat to the environment of virgin regions or regions populated by its original inhabitants.
Are we willing to see pass away thousands of hectares of native forests for alleged energy need that can be covered with sustainable development? Are we willing to witness this predation in exchange for 20 or 30 years of useful life of this dam? Is it the best and only solution to energy problems? We know that it is not. There are alternatives, and the state must ensure compliance with national and international standards.
It's time to do something, to support indigenous people and to avoid large-scale ecological damage that ultimately affects us all.
 Anonymous will not stay idle.

Citizens of the world,

The Norte-Energy company, with the consent of the brasilian Government wants to build on a giant dam on the Xingu River. The plant will have a power of 11000 gigawatts, the same of 11 nuclear power plants. The Kayapo lands would be flooded by the waters. 20000 kayapo would leave their community. River is very important in kayapo's traditions and culuture ,it would suffer incalculable and irreversible damages. Moreover, the huge mass of water conveyed in the giant dam, would alter the climate in the entire Amazon region, with a decrease in rainfall that largely nullify the effectiveness of the aforementioned hydroelectric project. The Kayapo have never been consulted about the hydroelectric project. This violates Article 18 of the Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples: "Indigenous peoples have the right to participate in decision-making in matters which would affect their rights, through representatives chosen by themselves in accordance with their own procedures, as well as to maintain and develop their own indigenous decision-making institutions". ENEL's, Endesa-hydroaysen's norte energy's projects would destroy the centuries-old native ethnic groups of Brazil (Kayapo),Guatemala (Ixil) and Chile (Mapuche) The "modern", "free" West continues his hunt for different cultures allover the world.
